Experienced Criminal Defence Lawyer

Criminal Defence Law In Toronto, Brampton And Newmarket.

A lawyer cannot safely dabble in criminal law. The rules of evidence are complex. Advocacy skills take years to perfect. Since the introduction of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the volume of case law dealing with our basic Constitutional rights has grown, and criminal lawyers must keep track of every recent development in order to properly serve their clients.

I graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1983. That same year, I graduated from Osgoode Hall’s Intensive Program in Criminal Law where I learned a great deal about the criminal law system. As part of the program, I prosecuted and defended cases. The insight I gained from both sides of the legal process has been a tremendous asset in my legal practice.

I am a member of Legal Aid Ontario’s Extremely Serious Criminal Matters (ESCM) panel, which means I am able to represent Legal Aid clients in the most serious types of criminal cases, such as murder, guns and gangs cases and police project cases. The criteria for admission to the ESCM panel are very strict, and only a senior lawyer with the necessary experience can be admitted.

I have gained experience and a comprehensive knowledge of a broad variety of criminal matters, from theft to drug offences to sexual assault and other serious violent offences including manslaughter, second degree murder and first degree murder. I prepare every case as if it is going to trial, and I have a track record of success at all trial court levels.

Criminal law has become a complicated and challenging area of practise. When you are looking for a criminal defence lawyer, you want to be sure that the person you choose has the experience and the capability to properly handle your case. You want someone who is committed to protecting your rights and is prepared and assertive in your defence, regardless of whether you are charged with shoplifting or murder.

If your case requires a jury trial, I have the necessary experience, advocacy skills and confidence to convincingly argue your case to the jury.
